What We Believe

About God… We believe in the Triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Father is the creator of all that is, the giver of life, and sustainer of the church. In the beginning God spoke the world into being, bringing order from the chaos.

About Jesus… The second person of the Trinity, Jesus is the Son of God. He is God revealed in human form, born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus is fully God and fully human. He died for our sins on the cross, was raised to new life on the third day, and ascended into Heaven where he sits on the right hand of God.

About the Holy Spirit… The third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is living and active in our world. He inspires within us a need for God and a call to serve the world in the name of Jesus Christ. We desire to follow the Spirits leading in all that we do as the people of God and the church of God.

About Sin and Salvation… We believe that all people are sinners, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Sin separates us from God and his plan for our lives. However, even though we are sinners, Christ still died for us. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ. Salvation is about what God does for us and not what we do for ourselves.

About Scripture… We believe that the Bible is God’s Word to us. It is our only rule for life and faith. This ancient text is not just an account of history, but God’s revelation of salvation for all of humankind.  We believe that Scripture is the final authority on all things concerning the life of faith.

About Baptism and Communion… The sacraments of baptism and communion are God’s physical reminder of the covenant made with us through Christ. In our baptism (infant or adult, we do not ‘re-baptize’) we are marked by God as his children. Through confirmation of that covenant and our baptism we join in communion as a sign and symbol of the new covenant of Christ’s blood poured out for us. Anyone who has been baptized and professes Christ as their savior is invited to join us at the table of God.

Who We Are

CU is made up of people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Each of us come with different needs and different challenges, yet we all come for the same thing - Hope in Jesus Christ. We understand that all are broken and imperfect, but we strive to be more like Christ each day. At CU we encourage and welcome everyone that comes to get engaged and involved in one of our ministries, worship and fellowship. We believe that we are designed to exist in community for fellowship, support and accountability. If you have questions about where to start, how to get involved, or prayer requests, fill out the connection card in your bulletin on Sundays, or the online connection card, or email us at info@eastbrookeco.org. We look forward to meeting and getting to know you!
